The famous "barter deal", oh my. It was my experience to actually work for the world's largest corporate trading company , Active International. I called over there recently, and I heard that people are still not easily persuaded to look into this kind of transaction.
With all of the crazy things that have been going on with synthetic financial instruments, and CDO's , and how bad people have made things in terms of winding up deals I am very surprised that more people have not looked into this very transparent, straightforward GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Priniciple) transaction.
However, I would not go into this kind of transaction without knowing a few things first. Preferably from a neutral 3rd Party source that is not aligned with a corporate trading company, nor is aligned with a 'no barter policy' point of view.
